The Barbarian is a Mini unlocked from Chests, Shop or Quests. The Barbarian is a single-target, melee unit with moderate hitpoints and damage output. Appearance-wise, he wields a short sword and has blonde hair and a horseshoe mustache. It costs 2 Elixir to deploy.

Skill: Rage

“Each attack increases attack speed, can stack up to 10 times”

Barbarian has a Passive ability that increases his attack speed for every attack that he does. It can increase a total of 10 times in each round.

Star Abilities

Endless Rage

“Rage can stack infinitely”

The Rage of the Barbarian can increase infinitely.

Critical Strike

“Attacks have a small chance to deal +1 damage”

Whenever a Barbarian attacks an enemy, he has a small chance to deal 1 more damage, for a total of 2 damage per attack.

Roar

“Clash: +1 ATK to nearby allies for a short time”

At the start of each round, the Barbarian increases the damage of himself and nearby allies by 1. This ability stacks with Critical Strike.

Strategies

  • The Barbarian can be an incredibly powerful troop if utilized correctly. However, his short range and low health put him at risk.
  • It is usually wise to place a Barbarian behind a Skeleton Guard or Knight so that they can tank for the Barbarian and allow him to rack up his speed.
  • If the Barbarian is placed in the frontline, it is better if he is located near the edges of the board instead of the center, so that there is a higher chance of sneaking by and racking up in speed.
  • Pairing the Barbarian with the Barbarian King is a great idea. The Barbarian King can increase the damage of the Barbarian, letting him deal an incredible amount of damage very fast if the Barbarian is not put in check.
  • The Shield Maiden is devastating to the Barbarian, as their fast hit speed and low damage amount gets him taken out quickly due to her ability.
  • It is usually wise to start the game off with the Critical Strike ability, as it overall gives the Barbarian a better damage output than Rage. Also, in the early stages of the battle, the Barbarian will likely not have enough health or support to survive long enough to make much use of the Rage ability.
  • The Battle Healer can be amazing at keeping the Barbarian alive, allowing you to keep him and his huge damage potential on the field for longer.
  • The Dart Goblin may have more range than the Barbarian, and even has stunning capabilities. However, you must remember that the Dart Goblin has less health and would typically be at the backline - putting him more at risk from attackers like the Archer, Archer Queen, Royal Champion, Countess, and Miner.

Trivia

  • The Barbarian is 1 of the 7 Minis that originated from Clash of Clans, the others being the Archer, Wizard, Bowler, Valkyrie, P.E.K.K.A and the Witch.
  • The word "Barbarian" comes from "barbaros", which is the Greek word for uncivilized. Dating back to the ancient Greek times, the Greeks referred to non-Greek people as barbarians because the language they spoke sounded to Greeks like gibberish represented by the sounds "bar..bar..;".
  • The Barbarian, along with the Knight, Miner, Archer, Spear Goblin, Wizard, Ice Wizard, Swordsman and the Skeleton Guard are the cheapest Minis, costing 2 Elixir.
  • The Barbarian, Archer and the Wizard are the 3 Minis to appear in every single Clash games (Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Clash Quest, Clash Mini, and Clash Heroes).
  • The Barbarian bears more than a passing resemblance to Hulk Hogan. He also resembles Abraham from The Walking Dead TV series.
  • From the Knight's description in Clash Royale, Barbarians are said to be distant cousins, due to their physical similarities, especially their mustaches and hair color.
